Access 2003 - Importing Tables
Step 1
Open the database
Step 2
Click on New in the database window.

Step 3

The
window will open.
Click on Import Table.
Click on OK.
Step 4

The
window will open.
Use the Look in drop down menu to direct the Import Wizard to the folder where your CSV file is saved.
You will need to click on the appropriate folder.
Ensure you are in the correct folder.

Use the File of type drop down menu to select Text Files.
Click on the down arrow until you find the correct option.
Click on Text Files.
Click on the file you want to Import.

Step 5
The
window will open.
Ensure that Delimited – Characters such as comma or tab separate each field is selected.

Click on Next

Make sure Comma is selected.

Click the box next to First Row Contains Field Names. A green tick should now be visible.

Click on Next

In a New Table must be selected.

Click on advanced to change field data types.

Check that each field displays the correct type of data. This information is displayed at the bottom of the window.

If a change is required, click on the data type which must be changed.
A small blue arrow will appear.
Click on this arrow and a drop down menu will then be displayed. Scroll up or down, until you find the correct data type. Click the required selection.

Click on OK

Click on Next

Click on Finish

Step 6
If all has gone well the following window should appear.

Step 7
Your new table will now be listed.
